WELCOME HOME FORMADO MEDALHINHA!

After spending six months teaching English to the students of Ginga Capoeira in Brazil through various partner organizations, Formado 'Nick' Medalhinha has returned to NYC. During their time in Brazil, Formado Medalhinha trained intensively with the Ginga Capoeira community and has tons of knowledge to share us! Come January, they will be teaching Ginga Capoeira USA's Saturday classes in NYC.

PARABÉNS MESTRE ITAPOAN!

On Friday, 02/27/2015, the Municipality of Salvador held Berimbau Prix Gold Ceremony of 2014. The Berimbau of Gold Award was awarded to Mestre Itapoan for his lifetime commitment to the preservation and teaching of Capoeira. The event also highlighted the values of capoeira as an instrument of social change. Creator of the project, Mestre Maximo, founder of Mangangá Capoeira Group and the newspaper 'O Capoeira' stated, "Capoeira is much wider than the palms and the sound of the berimbau and the award comes with this role, to show, recognize and reward by a council made up of several segments of the art, the main achievements of this universe."
